Punjab: Amritsar police arrest man for posing as Delhi High Court judge

Amritsar, December 13: The Amritsar police have arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a judge of the Delhi High Court. The accused has been identified as Mishu Dhir, a resident of Shastri Nagar, Majitha Road.

According to the Amritsar police, the accused rang up ACP, North, Varinder Khosa, of Amritsar. seeking security for his family. However, ACP Khosa got suspicious and when the investigation was done, the entire matter came to light.

According to the information, the accused identified himself as Justice of the Delhi High Court. However, during the conversation, the ACP, North, developed suspicion. 

The fake judge also took the names of former CP Arun Pal Singh and several other senior police officials during the conversation and claimed that they had also been providing security to him on their arrival.


Mishu Dhir said he had eight security guards, but he needed security for his mother, who lived in Amritsar. However, when the police raided the house of the accused, he did not have any degree or judge's identity card. The car parked at the accused's house had a blue light on it. Apart from this, the name plate of Judicial Magistrate was also found affixed in the front of the car.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC. The vehicle of the accused has also been impounded.
