Punjab increases room, ICU charges for officials and pensioners' medical reimbursement; check details
PTC Web Desk: The Punjab Government has revised and increased room rent rates for state officials, employees, pensioners, and their dependents in medical bills, effective from December 1, 2023. This change will apply to medical bill reimbursements as per the new rates of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, has issued instructions to civil surgeons in this regard. According to these directives, the room and ICU rent rates have been updated for both gazetted and non-gazetted officials in the state.
Under the new rules, gazetted officers will be entitled to a room rent of Rs 6,000 per day and an ICU rent of Rs 7,000 per day. For non-gazetted employees, the rates will be Rs 3,000 per day for room rent and Rs 4,000 per day for ICU charges.
The government has clarified that medical bill reimbursements will now be based on the new AIIMS, New Delhi rates. Earlier, the reimbursements were done based on older rates, but with the recent increase in room and ICU charges at AIIMS, the new system has been introduced.
The Health Department has directed all civil surgeons to strictly adhere to these revised rates and ensure that medical bill reimbursements are processed accordingly. The order has been issued with the approval of the competent authority within the department.
All civil surgeons have been instructed to follow the new rates for all treatments carried out after December 1, 2023. These revised rates will apply not only to room rent but also to ICU charges for hospitalised patients.
