Punjab: Member of Bishnoi gang held after a brief exchange of fire with cops in Malout

PTC News Desk: The Punjab police have arrested a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang after a brief exchange of fire near Malout town.


Muktsar DSP (D) Ramanpreet Gill said that during a routine patrol and checking operation on Saturday night, the CIA Malout team tried to stop a young man riding a motorcycle on Abohar Road on the outskirts of Malout.

"On spotting the police, the suspect tried to flee. When the police gave a chase, he opened fire at them. In retaliation, the police also fired, during which the accused sustained a bullet injury to his leg. He was taken into custody and rushed to the Malout civil hospital," said the DSP.

The accused has been identified as Abhishek, a resident of Sitto Gunno village in Punjab’s Fazilka district. "He is affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and was involved in supplying weapons. He also has two robbery cases registered against him in Haryana," stated the DSP.

The police have also recovered two pistols and two live cartridges from his possession.
