PTC Web Desk: Punjab is set to open its first 'School of Happiness' in the village of Lakhri, Anandpur Sahib. This initiative, aimed at enhancing the overall well-being and learning environment for students, will commence with a special bag-free day on Saturday, potentially coinciding with Children's Day celebrations.

The Punjab Government plans to establish a total of 132 'Schools of Happiness' across the state, including 10 in urban areas and 122 in rural regions. Each school will be equipped with modern facilities such as computer labs, cricket and badminton courts, football stadiums, and age-specific amenities designed to cater to diverse educational needs.

These schools will feature vibrant classrooms and colourful furniture to make learning more engaging for children. Books will be designed in an attractive manner to captivate students' interest. Additionally, the curriculum will incorporate art, music, and dance, offering a holistic approach to education.

Currently, Punjab has 12,800 primary schools up to the fifth grade, staffed by 48,000 teachers and serving 1.4 million students. The government has allocated an initial budget of over Rs 10 crore for the launch of these schools, with plans to increase funding in the future. Upgrades to the schools will be supported with assistance from NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development).
