Punjab to open 8 ultra modern UPSC coaching centres, says CM Bhagwant Mann
Chandigarh, July 22: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday said the state government would soon open eight ultra modern training centres in the state for imparting coaching for exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
At a high-level meeting on Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed concern over the declining ratio of the state in central services, especially in the exams conducted by the UPSC. He said despite having enormous talent, the youth of the state was not able to crack these exams. He blamed it to their inclination towards going abroad and dearth of quality coaching in the state.
Bhagwant Mann claimed that the state government was committed to reverse this trend for which eight coaching centres were being opened across Punjab. These centres would provide quality training to youth free of cost for clearing UPSC exams and serve the country by notching coveted positions in both the state and Union Government. He said the state had a glorious legacy of producing ace bureaucrats who had made huge contributions in socio-economic development of the country by discharging services in various capacities.
Bhagwant Mann said this rich tradition had to be upheld in future too, for which these centres would play a pivotal role. He said the sole aim of opening these centres in the state was to ensure that Punjabi youth sit in high offices and serve the country.
He said the training would be imparted free of cost to all desirous students from the cross sections of society. Bhagwant Mann asked officials to fine tune the modalities of entry in the coaching centres and hiring of the professional, dedicated and capable staff in them.
The Chief Minister said apart from ensuring regular training at these centres, the state government was also mulling to start online training for the UPSC aspirants in the state. He said along with the training the aspirants enrolling in these centres would also be given financial assistance by the state government. Bhagwant Mann said the day was not far when Punjab would produce leading bureaucrats from the state.
