PTC Web Desk: In a shocking and horrifying incident reported from Amar Nagar, Patara, Jalandhar (Punjab), two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fatally shot a mother and her daughter during the early hours of Tuesday. The attackers also attempted to set the mother's body ablaze by dousing it with petrol.
The family has pointed fingers at their estranged son-in-law, currently residing in America, as a potential suspect in this gruesome crime.
Senior police officers, including Jalandhar Rural SSP Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate the incident, which sent shockwaves through the area.
The victims have been identified as Ranjit Kaur and her daughter, Preeti, aged 33. The police have initiated the process of filing a murder case based on statements provided by Ranjit Kaur's husband, Jagtar Singh.
This harrowing event unfolded on a fateful Tuesday morning when two assailants forcibly entered the victims' residence and, with a callous act of violence, killed the mother-daughter duo. Preliminary findings indicate that the perpetrators made an attempt to set Ranjit Kaur's body on fire.
According to family members, the daughter had been married for approximately four years, and despite the birth of a son, the couple's relationship was marred by troubles. Jagtar has accused his son-in-law of orchestrating the attack from the United States.
The police have obtained CCTV footage capturing the images of the two assailants on motorcycles
