Punjab Women Commission demands action against Honey Singh, Karan Aujla over derogatory lyrics against women

In a letter to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, the commission has demanded investigation into two specific songs sung by Honey Singh and Karan Aujla citing that the songs contain foul language and derogatory remarks against women.

Punjab Women Commission demands action against Honey Singh, Karan Aujla over derogatory lyrics against women

PTC News Desk: The trouble seems to be mounting for Punjabi singer Honey Singh and Karan Aujla in connection with their latest release. The Punjab Women Commission has taken cognizance citing concerns over offensive song lyrics.


In a letter to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, the commission has demanded investigation into two specific songs sung by Honey Singh and Karan Aujla citing that the songs contain foul language and derogatory remarks against women. 

Punjab Women's Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill has written two letters to the DGP. The first letter states that Yo Yo Honey Singh's song 'Millionaire' is trending on social media. He has used very objectionable language towards women in the song.

In the second letter, the Commission mentioned Karan Aujla's song 'MM Gabru'. The Commission said that this song is also trending on social media. It also uses inappropriate terminology for women, which is completely objectionable.

The Commission in its letter has directed the DGP to issue directives to launch rigorous investigation in connection with this case. It has further sought a report by August 11 seeking clarification and details about the appropritate action.
