Suspended Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu served legal notice by MP Sukhjinder Randhawa for gangster remarks
PTC Web Desk: The turmoil within the Punjab Congress deepened further today after suspended party leader Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu was served a legal notice by senior Congress MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. The notice comes just hours after the party suspended her primary membership over her repeated allegations accusing top Congress leaders of corruption, selling tickets and undermining the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Randhawa has demanded that Navjot Kaur issue a public apology within seven days for claiming he has links with gangsters and that he “sold tickets for money” during the Rajasthan elections. He warned that failure to apologise will result in formal legal proceedings.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, meanwhile, has continued to level serious accusations against several senior Punjab Congress leaders, including Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Her allegations, ranging from ticket-selling to colluding with political rivals, have triggered significant unrest within the party.
The controversy began when she claimed that the post of Punjab’s Chief Minister can be bought with a “Rs 500-crore suitcase.” She later alleged that Rs 5 crore each was paid to secure a ticket in the Tarn Taran bypoll, adding that multiple leaders were “destroying the Congress from within.”
Reacting sharply, Randhawa questioned whether her husband Navjot Singh Sidhu had ever paid money to become a minister or PCC chief, accusing her of damaging the party just before elections.
Partap Singh Bajwa also dismissed her allegations as “baseless and unfortunate,” while senior leader Kulbir Singh Zira alleged that she was working as a “pawn of the BJP” and was attempting to break the Congress.
Tarn Taran candidate Karanbir Burj, whom she cited in her claims, publicly denied giving money for his ticket and said no Congress leader had ever demanded funds from him.
