Sustainable Farming: Bike rally in Punjab's Moga pushes for regenerative agriculture

PTC News Desk: Residents, farmers, and government officials from Punjab's Moga district came together on Thursday for a bike rally to raise awareness about sustainable farming practices. The rally, organised as part of the PRANA initiative (Promoting Regenerative Agriculture and No-burn Agriculture), attracted 65 motorcyclists who travelled from Moga's DC Complex to Village Khosa Jalal.

Teams from Vertiver and Manav Vikas Sansthan (MVS) led the rally along with farmers, spreading messages and slogans calling for the use of Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) during the Kharif season and emphasising the need for soil and water conservation.

Deputy Commissioner of Moga Kulwant Singh emphasised the importance of the event, saying, "We should be cautious when using water and take water-saving measures in agriculture." He hoped that such rallies would continue to reinforce messages promoting regenerative agriculture among farmers.

Chhaya Bhanti, CEO of Vertiver, welcomed the rallygoers' active participation and emphasised the importance of community engagement in effecting agricultural change.

The PRANA initiative seeks to assist farmers and stakeholders in transitioning from chemical-based farming to regenerative agricultural techniques that improve soil health and water conservation.

Representatives from MVS's Field Resource teams, who have been actively working with farmers to promote DSR as a means of water conservation and soil protection, also attended the event.
