Tarn Taran court orders release of Kanchanpreet Kaur, deems arrest illegal after overnight hearing
PTC News Desk: In a major blow to Punjab government, the Tarn Taran court had ordered the release of Kanchanpreet Kaur, daughter of Shiromani Akali Dal's Tarn Taran bypoll candidate Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa after overnight hearing.
The court in its order deemed her arrest as illegal and rapped Punjab police for unlawful detention.
The verdict was pronounced at 4 am. After the release, Kanchanpreet kaur paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib.
Kanchanpreet Kaur, daughter of SAD candidate for the Tarn Taran bypolls Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa was arrested when she reached the Majitha police station in Amritsar to join the investigation in a case registered against her.
Reacting to her release, SAD posted on X and said, "Dictator Bhagwant Mann has been defeated. Following an overnight hearing, the honourable court ordered the release of Kanchanpreet Kaur at 4 am."
