Teary-eyed farewell to comedy king: Jaswinder Bhalla laid to rest in Mohali, thousands gathered to pay last respects

PTC News Desk: Punjabi comedy king and veteran actor Jaswinder Bhalla was laid to rest on Saturday at cremation ground in Balongi, Mohali. Besides his family, thousands of people gathered to pay their last respects. 


Several prominent figures from across the Punjabi film industry including Gippy Grewal, Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi, Jimmy Shergil were in attendance and bid a teary-eyed farewell to Jaswinder Bhalla, who was fondly known as Bhalla Saab. 

His mortal remains were kept at his residence on Saturday early morning, where a large number of people queued up for a final glimpse. Actors Neeru Bajwa, Amar Noori, and several colleagues visited his home to offer condolences to the family.

The atmosphere during the cremation became sombre as Jaswinder Bhalla's son Pukhraj Bhalla lit his pyre, with many recalling the man, who is a globally celebrated artist.

Perhaps one his most famous punchline from his popular films 'Carry On Jatta'  is "Advocate Dhillon Ne Kala Coat Ainven Ni Paaya".

"Saali Gandi Aulaad, Na Maja Na Swaad": This is another dialogue that glued to Punjabi households again from  'Carry On Jatta'.

Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, an iconic Punjabi movie featuring Jaswinder Bhalla and his dialogue "Saheli Te Haveli Edi Cheti Ni Bandi"

Saada Patola Saatho Hi Ohla: This lived dialogue became well-loved from the iconic film 'Mel Karade Rabba' 

Featuring alongside Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa in Jatt and Juliet, " Je Chandigarh Dhai Ju, Pinda Warga Taa Reh Ju, is another one of Bhalla's iconic dialogue. 

As Dr. Jaswinder Bhalla embarked on his final journey, the void he left is immeasurable and his mark on Punjabi industry, indelible. He will be remembered not just as a comedian, but as an icon who gave Punjab a timeless laughter.
