Punjab Govt increases electricity duty; Power bill to go up by 2%
The electricity duty on power bills in Punjab now will be 15% as Cabinet allowed an increase of 2 percentage points in electricity duty. This amounts to increase the bill of each consumer by 2 percent.
The duty will be applicable on industrial, commercial as well as domestic consumers. The additional burden on the power consumers is going to be Rs 150 crore.
The total collection from the duty will increase to Rs. 1,125 crore from the Rs. 975 crore
