Three Punjab districts fall in COVID-19 red zone; Here's the full list of state-wise classifications of districts
Following the COVID-19 review by the Central Government on Thursday, three districts have been designated as a red zone in Punjab. These include Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala.
Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan stated that all States are accordingly requested to delineate the containment zones and buffer zones in the identified red and orange zone districts and notify the same. A district will be considered under Green Zone if there are no confirmed cases so far or there is no reported case for the last 21 days in the district.
"For districts having 1 or more municipal corporations, corporations and other areas of districts may be treated as separate units. If 1 or more of these have reported no cases for the last 21 days, they can be considered 1 level lower in zonal classification, if the district is in Red/Orange Zone," she added.
In buffer zones, extensive surveillance for cases through monitoring of ILI/SARI cases in health facilities has to be taken up, she said. Meanwhile, the States are requested to delineate the containment zones and buffer zones in the identified red and orange zone districts and notify the same.

As per the new list, Rupnagar (Ropar), Fatehgarh Sahib, Bathinda, and Fazilka have been declared a green zone. The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab crossed 550.
