Punjab: Shopkeeper shot dead in broad daylight in Tarn Taran

Tarn Taran, October 12: In Tarn Taran, a 32-year-old shop owner Gurjant Singh was shot dead by two youths in Rasulpur village on the Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan National road in a broad daylight. As per the sources, two unknown persons with uncovered faces entered the shop in a casual manner and under the pretext of purchasing clothes, they communicated with Gurjant Singh. Also Read: SGPC to set up international Sikh advisory board   When Gurjant turned his back to get the clothes, they fired about 14 bullets with their pistols at Gurjant Singh who died on the spot. Notably, Gurjant is paternal cousin of Arshdeep Bhatti who is associate of Gangster Lakhbir Landa and both families have rivalry over some issues which is yet unknown. After the murder of Gurjant, parents of deceased stated that Lakhbir Landa had demanded the extortion money of Rs 20 lakh but as the family refused to give the money as they were already under the debt of Rs 40 lakh. Later, Tarn Taran police identified the shooters as Gurkirat Singh @ Ghuggi Shooter s/o Darshan Singh r/o Sheron Dist. Tarn Taran and Ajmeet Singh @ Meet s/o Major Singh r/o Naushehra Pannuan. Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning Gangster Lakhbir Landa took the responsibility of Gurjant's murder by posting a note on his Facebook handle. -PTC News
