Man from Punjab's Batala dies in tragic road accident in Melbourne, family seeks assistance to bring mortal remains home
PTC News Desk: A 36-year-old man from Punjab's Batala district died in a road accident in Australia's Melbourne. He had been living in Australia for almost 11 years.
The deceased has been identified as Snehpal Singh, a resident of Batala.
According to Snehpal's maternal uncle Kashmir Singh, the accident took place on Saturday. Snehpal was sitting inside his car after parking it on the side of the road when a heavy vehicle coming from behind crashed into it. The impact was so severe that the car was badly damaged, and Snehpal died at the spot.
Singh was his parents' only son and is survived by his wife, who is a dental surgeon.
No Previous Complaints of Careless Driving
The family said Snehpal was a very responsible driver. He had been living in Australia and driving for the past 11 years, and they said there had never been any complaint against him for speeding or careless driving.
The untimely death of Singh has left the family shattered and entire village grieving. Now, the family and local people have appealed to the Indian government, Ministry of External Affairs and Punjab government to provide all possible assistance in bringing Snehpal's mortal remains from Australia to Batala as soon as possible.
They want his last rites to be performed in his hometown according to the family's religious traditions.
