PTC Web Desk: Punjab Police and Faridabad Police have arrested a man wanted in a hand grenade attack in Punjab, during a joint operation in Faridabad, Haryana.

The accused, identified as Kulwant Singh, was picked up from Panchayati Jhuggi village, which falls under the Chhainsa police station area. He is said to have links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, and with the terrorist Shahzad Bhatti. After the arrest, a Punjab Police team took him back to Punjab to seek his remand and continue the investigation.

Police officials said Kulwant Singh was wanted in connection with the grenade attack carried out on September 13 in Jalalabad, in Punjab’s Fazilka district. Investigators are now going through his contacts, financial transactions and the alleged Pakistan-linked network in detail.

How he was traced

Kulwant Singh is a resident of Punjab’s Ferozepur district. Following the Jalalabad incident, security agencies had been raiding his possible hideouts. During the investigation, Punjab Police received a reliable tip that he had come to stay at his paternal aunt’s house in Panchayati Jhuggi village, Faridabad. Acting on the input, teams from both states cordoned off the area, carried out a planned raid and caught him.

Named in RDX case too

A senior police officer said Kulwant Singh’s name had also surfaced in the recovery of 8 kg of RDX in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, and that he was absconding in that case as well.
