Security beefed up across Punjab ahead of Independence Day; surveillance tightened at key locations
PTC News Desk: Punjab has been placed on high alert ahead of the Independence Day. A meeting under the leadership of Punjab Director General of Police(DGP) Gaurav Yadav was held in Mohali to strengthen security arrangements.
The meeting focused on range-level law and order arrangements. Senior police officers and personnel from Rupnagar Range, which includes Rupnagar, SAS Nagar (Mohali) and Fatehgarh Sahib, attended the meeting.

Meanwhile the DGP also directed the officials to remain vigilant 24x7 and outlined a four-point security strategy.
Officials were instructed to increase police presence on roads and in sensitive areas and improve coordination between different teams. Police officials were also directed to ensure immediate and strict action in case of any untoward incident or security challenge
The police officials said all police forces and agencies are on high alert and prepared to deal with any emergency.
Security agencies have stepped up coordination across the state, with surveillance tightened at sensitive locations, busy markets, railway stations, bus terminals and other key installations. The police have asked residents to alert security agencies at once if they notice anything suspicious.
