IPL 2025 RCB victory parade in Bengaluru cancelled amid security concerns; fans disappointed

RCB victory parade cancelled: In a late but crucial announcement on Tuesday, the Bengaluru Police confirmed that the much-awaited victory parade for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has been cancelled due to security and logistical challenges. The team, which won its first-ever IPL title after a historic win in Ahmedabad, was scheduled for an open-top bus procession from Vidhana Soudha to M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Instead of a public parade, the RCB team will now be honoured during a felicitation event at Chinnaswamy Stadium, between 5 pm and 6 pm. The authorities have clarified that only individuals with valid tickets will be allowed entry into the venue. The move has been taken to manage the overwhelming response and ensure public safety.

A joint advisory issued in both Kannada and English by the city police has urged residents to avoid roads around Vidhana Soudha and the stadium between 3 pm and 8 pm. Heavy traffic and crowd congestion are anticipated in the Central Business District (CBD), and commuters have been strongly advised to rely on Metro services and public transport.

Limited parking availability was cited as one of the primary reasons for scrapping the open bus parade. Bengaluru’s civic authorities and traffic police are actively coordinating crowd control measures to manage the expected influx of fans near the stadium.

The RCB squad departed from Ahmedabad earlier in the day at 10 am and is scheduled to arrive at HAL Airport by 1.30 pm. Following their arrival, the team is expected to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Vidhana Soudha around 4 pm before heading to the stadium for the official event.

While the cancellation of the victory procession has left thousands of fans disheartened, especially after RCB’s 18-year wait for an IPL trophy, officials have assured that the stadium celebration will be vibrant and well-secured.

Fans lucky enough to secure entry are expected to witness a memorable evening honouring the team's triumphant IPL 2025 campaign. The city, despite the change in plans, remains charged with excitement as Bengaluru gets ready to celebrate its cricketing heroes.
