Shikhar Dhawan announces retirement from all formats of international cricket; shares message for fans | Watch
PTC Web Desk: Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has officially announced his retirement from all three formats of international cricket through a video shared on his Instagram and X handles. Dhawan expressed his gratitude to the fans for their unwavering love and support, stating that he will cherish the many memories he’s made throughout his career.
In a post on X, Shikhar Dhawan wrote, “As I close this chapter of my cricketing journey, I carry with me countless memories and gratitude. Thank you for the love and support! Jai Hind!”
The Delhi-born left-hander made his international debut against Australia in an ODI in Visakhapatnam, but his career began with a disappointing two-ball duck. Despite the initial setback, Dhawan made a strong comeback in 2013, eventually securing his place in the Indian team across all three formats with consistent and remarkable performances.
Reflecting on his journey, Dhawan said in the video, "I always had one goal in mind—to play for India, and I achieved it thanks to many people. First and foremost, my family, and my childhood coaches, Tarak Sinha and Madan Sharma, under whose guidance I learned cricket. Then, my teammates, with whom I played for years, became like another family, bringing fame and everyone’s love and support. As they say, to move ahead in a story, you need to turn the page. Therefore, I am doing just that and announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket."
