T20 World Cup 2024: India to face Pakistan on June 9, kick start campaign against Ireland
PTC Web Desk: The much-anticipated fixtures for the T20 World Cup 2024 have been unveiled by the International Cricket Council (ICC). India, the inaugural champions in 2007, find themselves in Group A, accompanied by arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, USA, and Canada.
The tournament, set to feature 20 teams, introduces a revamped format, divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage. Here, the remaining teams will split into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals, leading to the grand finale scheduled for June 30.

India's journey in the group stage kicks off against Ireland on June 5 in New York. However, the match that stands out in the group stages is the India vs Pakistan clash, slated for June 9th at a specially constructed venue in New York.

This edition brings new locations into the mix as the tournament travels through various venues in the USA for the group stages, including matches against the USA on June 12 in New York and Canada on June 15 in Florida. Following the group stages, the Super 8 matches will move to venues in the West Indies.
The tournament opener features USA taking on Canada on June 1, while the finals are scheduled for June 29 in Barbados. The event marks the debut of an expanded format, intensifying the competition as the top-tier teams strive for supremacy in this pinnacle T20 championship.
The qualified teams joining India include hosts West Indies and the United States, along with the top eight finishers Australia, England, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. With this novel format and heightened competition, the tournament promises exhilarating clashes and high-octane cricket action from start to finish.
