Virat Kohli climbs to fifth in ICC Men's ODI Rankings after 51st century
PTC Web Desk: Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli has climbed one spot to secure the fifth position in the latest ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings, following his stellar 51st ODI century against Pakistan in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai.
The updated rankings, released by the ICC on Wednesday, place Virat Kohli among the top five ODI batters, making him the third Indian in the elite list. Shubman Gill continues to hold the top position, while skipper Rohit Sharma remains third. Pakistan’s Babar Azam is still in second place despite a lackluster performance in the Champions Trophy so far.
Biggest gainers in ODI batting rankings
Virat Kohli is the only player to break into the top 10, but several others made significant strides in the latest rankings. New Zealand’s Will Young jumped eight places to 14th, while Ben Duckett surged 27 spots to 17th after their centuries in the tournament. Rachin Ravindra climbed 18 places to 24th, India’s KL Rahul moved up to 15th, and South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen rose to 16th.
Bowlers' and all-rounders' rankings updates
Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana retained his top spot among ODI bowlers, followed by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. South African spinner Keshav Maharaj climbed to fourth, New Zealand pacer Matt Henry moved to sixth, and Australia’s Adam Zampa entered the top 10. Kagiso Rabada (16th) and Michael Bracewell (26th) were among the biggest movers.
Bracewell also made strides in the ODI all-rounders' rankings, jumping 26 spots to 11th after his four-wicket haul against Bangladesh. His teammate Rachin Ravindra also gained six places, ranking 15th. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi continues to lead the all-rounders’ list.
With the ICC Champions Trophy in full swing, these rankings are expected to witness further changes in the coming matches.
