PTC Web Desk: In a heart-wrenching turn of events, over a billion hopes were dashed as Team India succumbed to Australia in a nail-biting World Cup 2023 final at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi stadium. The nation stood united in anticipation, yearning for a sixth title lift, only to witness their dreams shattered.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a spectator in the stadium, didn't hesitate to step into the dressing room to console and uplift the spirits of the dejected Team India after the debacle.. A poignant moment unfolded when star bowler Mohammad Shami, visibly moved, embraced PM Modi, thanking him for his unwavering support throughout the tournament.



Posting a picture on X, Mohammad Shami wrote, "Unfortunately yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. Thankful to PM Modi for especially coming to the dressing room and raising our spirits. We will bounce back!

Ravindra Jadeja echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the significance of PM Modi's visit. "PM's presence was motivating; it meant a lot to us," Jadeja expressed, reflecting the team's gratitude for the PM's support during a trying moment.

PM Modi reciprocated with a touching message to the team, acknowledging their remarkable talent and unwavering determination throughout the World Cup 2023. "Dear Team India, Your talent and determination through the World Cup was noteworthy. You've played with great spirit and brought immense pride to the nation. We stand with you today and always.," PM Modi conveyed, acknowledging the team's commendable performance despite the unfortunate loss.


The devastating defeat left over 1.4 billion fans in India and worldwide crestfallen. The Indian team, boasting an unbeaten streak of 10 matches, faltered as Australia clinched victory. India's valiant effort in scoring 240 runs in 50 overs fell short against Travis Head's spectacular 137 that powered the Aussies to triumph.
