Amritsar, December 4: A Sikh Jatha from India, which had gone to Pakistan to celebrate Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji returned via the Attari-Wagah border on Monday.
The Sikh jatha expressed extreme happiness on getting the opportunity to visit the sacred Sikh shrines in Pakistan that had been inaccessible for years. The jatha members also conveyed their gratitude to both the Indian and Pakistani governments, appealing for an increase in visas for pilgrims to visit gurdwaras. They also acknowledged strict security measures put in place by the Pakistani government at Panja Sahib.
On the occasion of Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a total of 2,447 devotees crossed the Attari-Wagah border to visit gurdwaras based in Pakistan.
On the other hand, the pilgrimage was marred by a tragedy as one devotee from Haryana passed away in Pakistan.
