Adult sites to face strict rules: Under new regulations announced by the European Commission on Friday, adult content giants Pornhub, Stripchat, and XVideos to face stringent guidelines regarding the management of their platforms.
These measures are in response to the Digital Services Act (DSA), which categorises these companies as very large online platforms, imposing heightened responsibilities on them to combat illegal and harmful content.
As per the new regulations under the Digital Services Act (DSA), these adult sites are required to conduct risk assessment reports and implement measures to mitigate systemic risks associated with their services to remove illegal and harmful content on their platforms.
European Commission executive ordered Pornhub and Stripchat to mandated to adhere to the DSA provisions starting April 21, while XVideos is expected to comply by April 23
"These specific obligations include submitting risk assessment reports to the Commission, putting in place mitigation measures to address systemic risks linked to the provision of their services," European Commission executive said in a statement.
This move underscores the EU's commitment to enhancing online safety and regulating digital platforms, particularly those hosting adult content. It marks a significant step towards holding online platforms accountable for the content they host, with a focus on removing illegal and harmful material to create a safer online environment.
