Maharajganj (Uttar Pradesh), February 28: Ahead of the sixth phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed Opposition for promoting Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy and said that the vaccination drive was successfully carried out despite numerous hurdles. While addressing a public meeting in Maharajganj on Monday, the Prime Minister said, "The Opposition encouraged Indians who were happy to know that vaccinations were made in India to refuse to take the doses. By creating doubts in the minds of the poor, the opposition attempted to promote vaccine hesitancy." He further added that "Even the world's largest countries are far behind India in terms of vaccination coverage today, as India has provided 200 million vaccine shots to its population at no cost." Therefore, Uttar Pradesh being the biggest state of the country also has greater responsibility." Notably, the 2022 Assembly elections are being held in Uttar Pradesh in seven phases to elect 403 members of the state Legislative Assembly.
