At Trump's first Cabinet meeting, Elon Musk claims he’s getting death threats over recent job losses
PTC Web Desk: Elon Musk, the co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has revealed that he has received numerous death threats due to his role in streamlining government operations, which led to job losses. Elon Musk made a striking appearance at President Donald Trump’s first Cabinet meeting, despite not holding an official government position or being a Cabinet member.
Speaking at the meeting, Musk expressed concerns over excessive government spending, particularly in defense and interest payments. “We spend over $1 trillion on interest alone. If this continues, the country will become de facto bankrupt. This is not optional; it’s essential to fix. That’s why I’m here, even though I’m facing a lot of criticism and threats,” Musk stated, as reported by CNN. He attended the meeting wearing a 'tech support' T-shirt and a 'Make America Great Again' cap.
Praising Trump’s Cabinet, Elon Musk called it "the best Cabinet ever" and emphasised the talent within the administration. However, his role in DOGE remains ambiguous. While Trump has asserted that Musk leads the department, the White House has stated in court filings that he holds no official authority.
Trump defended Musk’s involvement, acknowledging that some Cabinet members might not fully agree with him. "Anybody unhappy with Elon? If you are, then we’ll throw them out of here," Trump joked, prompting mixed reactions from those in attendance.
The former president had earlier signed an executive order directing government agencies to collaborate with DOGE in eliminating unnecessary contracts and instructing the General Services Administration to devise a plan for disposing of surplus federal properties.
