'China, India or some hell-hole': Trump doubles down anti-India rant over birthright citizenship
PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump has reposted a letter on Truth Social highlighting comments by radio host Michael Savage, in which he makes controversial claims about immigration and specifically mentions India while discussing birthright citizenship.
The remarks come as the issue of birthright citizenship is being debated legally and politically, with the matter currently before the Supreme Court. In a video circulating widely online, Savage criticises the concept, alleging that immigrants misuse the system.
He claims that some families travel to the US to give birth so their child automatically gains citizenship, and then use that status to bring other relatives from countries like China and India.
Savage also makes broad assertions about employment, suggesting that opportunities are limited unless one is from India or China, and alleging that many internal systems are dominated by people from these countries. He further argues that the traditional idea of the US as a “melting pot” is fading, claiming that newer immigrant groups are not assimilating in the same way as earlier European settlers.
According to him, these demographic shifts are changing the country’s identity and weakening a sense of national loyalty among immigrant communities. He presents these views as part of his criticism of birthright citizenship, which he describes as flawed in its current form.
