Indian driver hits jackpot in UAE; takes home huge amount
PTC Web Desk: An Indian private driver employed in Al Ain, UAE, commenced New Year 2024 with a remarkable stroke of luck by winning the 20 million UAE Dirhams jackpot (approximately Rs 44 crore) at the recent Big Ticket Live draw on December 31. Gulf News reported Munavar Fairoos as the fortunate recipient of the Series 259 Big Ticket Live draw.
Despite his regular ticket purchases over the past five years, Munavar Fairoos was astounded by his unexpected windfall. However, he is not the sole beneficiary of this substantial sum, intending to share the prize money among 30 persons who contributed to the ticket purchase.
Upon receiving a call from the Big Ticket organisers, the Indian driver expressed his disbelief and need for time to deliberate on his future plans. Additionally, cash prizes of 100,000 UAE Dirhams were awarded to 10 persons of Indian, Palestinian, Lebanese, and Saudi Arabian nationalities.

On the same day, another Indian named Suthesh Kumar Kumaresan was declared the fourth weekly e-draw winner for December, securing a prize of 1 million UAE Dirhams (approximately INR 22,668,500). Mr. Kumaresan, an engineer at Etihad Airways residing in Abu Dhabi, disclosed that his seven-year-old daughter picked the winning ticket numbers. Expressing his family's excitement about the win, he mentioned their intentions to utilize the funds to acquire a home in India and offset their interest payments.
In a similar stroke of fortune last year, Arun Kumar Vatakke Koroth, a resident of Bengaluru, struck gold during the Big Ticket's draw series number 250 in Abu Dhabi. Mr. Koroth clinched the grand prize of Dh20 million (Rs 44,75,67,571) with ticket number 261031, purchased in March 2023.
