PTC News Desk: On Friday, a guy of Indian descent from Ludhiana, Punjab, was shot and killed in Surrey, Canada. Yuvraj Goyal, the victim, entered the country in 2019 with a student visa and recently obtained Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) status.

Yuvraj was a 28-year-old sales professional. While his mother Shakun Goyal stays at home to care for the family, his father Rajesh Goyal runs a firewood company. According to the Royal Canadian Police, Yuvraj was known to have no criminal history, and the reason behind his death is still being looked into.

The event happened on June 7 at 8:46 a.m. when a call about a shooting in Surrey, British Columbia's 900-block of 164 Street was received by the Surrey Police. Officers arrived and discovered Yuvraj dead. Four people are under arrest by the police.

On Saturday, the suspects—Keilon Francois (20) of Ontario, Manvir Basram (23), Sahib Basra (20), and Harkirat Jhutty (23) of Surrey—were charged with first-degree murder.

There is still work to be done, but we appreciate the dedication of the Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT).  Sergeant Timothy Pierotti stated, "Investigators from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) are committed to finding out why Mr. Goyal was the victim of this murder."

Although the circumstances behind Yuvraj's death are still being investigated, the preliminary inquiry into the matter indicates that the gunshot was targeted, he continued.
