Trump nominates loyalist Sergio Gor as US ambassador to India, calls him great friend
PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump has nominated its long-standing Sergio Gor as the next US Ambassador to India. Currently, he is the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office.
“I am pleased to announce that I am promoting Sergio Gor to be our next United States Ambassador to the Republic of India, and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs,” Trump said on Truth Social. “Sergio and his team have hired nearly 4,000 America First Patriots across every Department of our Federal Government in RECORD time — Our Departments and Agencies are over 95% filled!” Trump said in his post on Truth Social.
"Sergio is a great friend, who has been at my side for many years. He worked on my historic Presidential Campaigns, published my best selling books and ran one of the biggest Super PACs, which supported pur Movement," he added.
The president emphasised why he wants Gor in India: “For the most populous region in the world, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust to deliver on my agenda and help us MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Sergio will make an incredible Ambassador. Congratulations Sergio!”
Gor has been a key figure in Trump’s administration, overseeing the vetting process for senior government appointments, including the short-lived nomination of tech billionaire Jared Isaacman to head NASA—a proposal withdrawn in June.
Outside of politics, Gor shares close ties with the Trump family. He co-founded Winning Team Publishing with Donald Trump Jr., the company that published two of the former president’s books. Gor will continue in his current White House role until his Senate confirmation.
He is set to replace Eric Garcetti, who served as U.S. ambassador from May 11, 2023, to January 20, 2025. Prior to Garcetti, Kenneth Juster held the position from November 23, 2017, to January 20, 2021.
Since Garcetti’s departure, interim Charge d’Affaires Jorgan K. Andrews has been heading the U.S. Embassy in India, taking over on January 20, 2025.
