US: Gunman opens fire during Halloween celebration, 15 injured
PTC News Desk: At least 15 people have been injured, two of whom are said to be in critical condition, when a gunman opened fire during a Halloween celebration in Chicago, CNN reported on Monday.
According to a news release from Chicago police, the victims are six women and nine men aged 26 to 53. Two of them are still in critical condition.
According to the news release, officers responded to a report of gunfire shortly after 1 a.m. (local time) and found a man firing a weapon into the location where a gathering was taking place.
"The offender fled on foot and was placed into custody by responding officers a short distance away," a police spokesperson said.
According to CNN, citing a news release, the alleged shooter was found in possession of a handgun when he was apprehended by police and was later taken in for questioning.
The release stated that detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting and that "there is no further information" available as of Sunday morning.
Earlier on Sunday, at least one person was killed and two others were injured in Laurel, Delaware, in the United States, according to police.
This followed the October 26 shooting rampage in Maine, which left at least 18 people dead and 13 injured.
