Two Chandigarh siblings among 3 dead in Canada's Brampton car accident

PTC Web Desk: In a devastating incident in the early hours of Thursday in Brampton, Canada, three youths from India lost their lives in a tragic accident. The victims were identified as Reetik Chhabra (23) his younger brother Rohan Chhabra (22) and their friend Gaurav Fasge (24).

The accident was reported around 1.30 am, following which the Peel Regional Police (PRP) immediately rushed to the spot. The preliminary report suggested the possibility of a second vehicle's involvement, leading to a collision. PRP officers located the second vehicle and have taken the suspected driver in custody, awaiting charges related to the crash. "High speed" was cited as a factor in the collision, with the vehicles making contact.

The Chhabra brothers and Fasge, recent graduates from Seneca College, shared a basement apartment in Brampton. They were also employed at Savarg Beauty Salon in the town. Tirath Gill, salon's owner, expressed deep sorrow, describing the trio as family. Gill shared, "I’m so sad. They were like my family. We worked together every week for forty hours." The tragedy was compounded by the fact that Reetik Chabbra was celebrating his birthday with his younger brother and friend that night.

Hailing from Chandigarh, the Chabbra brothers, and Pune, Fasge, were likely returning home after dinner when the accident occurred near their residence. The Volkswagen Jetta they were in struck a pole, resulting in their untimely deaths.

Friends of the victims initiated an online fundraiser to repatriate Fasge's remains to India and cover the funeral expenses for the Chabbra brothers. The community is rallying together to support the grieving families and honour the memory of the young lives lost.
