Lok Sabha polls 2024: Except for Bihar seats, nominations for the first phase of the 2024 general elections will end today, with the second phase beginning Thursday, according to the Election Commission.

The deadline for registering nominations for the first phase of the elections in Bihar has been extended to Thursday due to a holiday.


The first phase of elections will take place on April 19 in 102 parliamentary constituencies (PCs) across 21 states and union territories (UTs). The second phase of voting will take place in 88 seats across 12 states and union territories, as well as some areas of the Outer Manipur constituency in the conflict-torn northeastern state.

Phase 2 includes 12 states/union territories: Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

The deadline for filing nominations is April 4, and they will be scrutinised on April 6 in Jammu and Kashmir and April 5 in all other states. The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is April 8.

The election will be held in seven phases, with voters across the country voting on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Vote counting will be held on June 4.
