PTC News Desk: Five Chinese nationals tragically lost their lives in a devastating suicide bomb attack that targeted their convoy in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, as confirmed by a senior police official. Mohammad Ali Gandapur, the regional police chief, revealed that a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the convoy of Chinese engineers en route from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The grim toll of the attack included the lives of five Chinese nationals along with their Pakistani driver, marking another dark chapter in the history of terrorist violence in the region. "Five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver were killed in the attack," stated Mohammad Ali Gandapur, highlighting the severity of the incident.

The location of the attack, Dasu, holds significance as the site of a major dam project and has unfortunately witnessed previous instances of violence. Notably, a bus bombing in 2021 claimed the lives of 13 individuals, including nine Chinese nationals, serving as a grim reminder of the persistent threat posed by terrorism in the region.

Despite the tragic loss of life, efforts were made to ensure the safety of the remaining individuals in the convoy, as emphasised by Mohammad Ali Gandapur, providing a glimmer of hope amid the somber aftermath of the attack.

The attack underscores the ongoing challenges posed by terrorism in Pakistan and the broader region, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and concerted efforts to combat extremism and safeguard the lives of innocent civilians and foreign nationals alike.
