23 die from drug overdose in June, Will Chitta ever leave Punjab? Numerous promises in expensive, elaborated rallies at the time of campaigning won't have costed as much as the fake hopes and promises have to the common man of Punjab. While people still pay an excruciating price; the cost of every life lost, every son and daughter of the family given in to drugs; the government can perhaps now be reminded that "four weeks to eradicate drugs from Punjab" is gone long back.

The time is ticking, and after every few hours a young man is dead. June saw the young blood suffering from intoxication of drugs, its overdose- leaving the grieving families hopelessly struggling with sadness and rage. There were 17 deaths in the last two weeks — that’s one life snuffed out every passing day.
