Nearly thirty-seven bodies have been recovered from the Russian apartment building’s debris that collapsed earlier in the week after a gas explosion. The blast took place in the early hours of December 31 in Magnitogorsk in Russia. The blast damaged 48 apartments in a 10 storey buildings.

The disaster management teams rushed to the spot. The rescuers have been working in spine-chilling weather to recover the bodies and people trapped under the debris.

The local branch of the emergencies ministries told the media that 22 of the 37 had been identified on Thursday morning.  Russia’s investigative committee is trying to find out the exact cause of the blast. The initial reports attributed the blast to a gas explosion.

Gas explosions in Russia are a very common thing. Ageing infrastructure and poor safety regulation are some of the major causes behind the common gas explosions.
