Vegetable prices hike: Amid hike in petrol and diesel prices in India, the inflation has started increasing in the country. Likewise, the vegetable prices have also started increasing.

While onion has witnessed a hike in its prices, prices of several other vegetables has started increasing.

According to the information from Samana in Punjab, the price of ladyfinger has increased to Rs 100 while the rate of bottle gourd (lauki) has surged to Rs 40 a kg and Jaggery at Rs 45 per kg.

Amid hike in vegetable prices, there has been no hope of relief in onion prices till March. The reason for hike in onion rates is said to be the unseasonal rains in Maharashtra that has impacted onion prices.

Also, the vegetable prices have become expensive because of the hike in petrol and diesel prices. As per the experts, the onion prices are expected to fall only after March, when new onion yields will come into the market.

Reportedly, the price of 1 kg onion in Hyderabad was at around Rs 34, which has increased by Rs 26 to Rs 60. Similarly, the onion prices increased by Rs 19 in Delhi, Rs 20 in Meerut, Rs 14 in Mumbai, Rs 10 in Shillong.

In Nashik, Rajkot, Warangal, Kolkata, Nagpur, onion rates surged by Rs 15 per kg.
