Surge in travel fare: Chandigarh administration revises fares for auto, cabs; new rates effective today

The administration has also permitted the operators to charge flat fare for the first 3 km which means that passengers will now have to pay for 3 km even if they travel for just 1 km.

Surge in travel fare: Chandigarh administration revises fares for auto, cabs; new rates effective today

PTC News Desk: The Chandigarh administration has revised the chargeable fares for travel by taxis, autos as well as bike taxis. The revision has been made after more than three years. For the first time, the administration has merged the fares charged by AC and non-AC taxis.

The administration has also permitted the operators to charge flat fare for the first 3 km which means that passengers will now have to pay for 3 km even if they travel for just 1 km. 


As per the latest notification issued under the authority of the Administrator, Union Territory of Chandigarh, the revised fares are as follows:


  • AC/Non-AC Taxi (4 1 seater): ₹90 for the first 3 km and ₹25 per km thereafter
  • AC/Non-AC Taxi (6 1 seater): ₹100 for the first 3 km and ₹28 per km thereafter
  • Auto-rickshaw/e-Rickshaw: ₹50 for the first 3 km and ₹13 per km thereafter
  • Bike Taxi: ₹30 for the first 3 km and ₹9 per km thereafter


The directions have been issued to the State Transport Authority, UT Chandigarh, for immediate implementation.
