Coronavirus positive cases in India rise to 8447; death toll 273

The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in India has surged to 8447 on Sunday after reporting 918 fresh cases and 31 deaths in the last 24 hours. Out of 8447, 765 have been cured and discharged while the death toll stands at 273, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Currently, there are 7409 active coronavirus cases in the country. Meanwhile, the highest number of coronavirus cases has been reported from Maharashtra in 1761, including 127 deaths, followed by Delhi at 1069, including 19 deaths. During the routine press briefing, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that "In the last five days, the average number of samples that have been tested is 15,747 per day and the average number of samples which tested positive is 584." "More than 40 vaccines are under development but none have reached the next stage. As of now, there is no vaccine," he added. Coronavirus in India Confirmed cases , Death Toll Due to COVID 19 Joint Secretary Lav Aggarwal said that "As per 9th April data, if we needed 1,100 beds we had 85,000 beds. Today when we need 1,671 beds, then we have 1 lakh 5 thousand beds in the dedicated 601 coronavirus hospitals."
