Date announced for long pending DSGMC elections 2021

Delhi: The long-pending Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections 2021 will now be held on August 22, 2021, the Delhi government informed the Delhi High Court on Thursday.

The DSGMC Legal Advisor Jagdeep Singh Kahlon said that the Shiromani Akali Dal has moved a petition in the High Court to demand early elections for DSGMC.

DSGMC Elections 2021: Amid rising coronavirus cases, Arvind Kejriwal approved postponement of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee elections.

The matter was listed before the bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh for a hearing on Thursday. During the hearing, the Delhi Government informed the High Court that elections will be held on August 22, 2021, and the result will be declared on August 25.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee

It may be recalled that the DSGMC elections 2021 were postponed in view of the second wave of coronavirus and curfew in Delhi.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee elections in Delhi were earlier scheduled to be held on April 25. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had sent the proposal to the LG Anil Baijal. The counting of votes was scheduled to be held on April 28.

The postponement was announced after the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had announced a six-day lockdown in the national capital.
