Parmish Verma firing case: The Mohali court has taken a strict view of the delay in recording witness statements in the firing case involving Punjabi singer and actor Parmish Verma.
The court has given the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Rupnagar, a final opportunity to ensure that the remaining witness statements in the case are completed. The matter will now come up for hearing on September 17.
Court issues non-bailable warrants against four cops
The case concerns the alleged firing at Parmish Verma and his friend. During the hearing, the court expressed displeasure over the prosecution's failure to complete the statements of witnesses despite several opportunities.
As part of its latest order, the court has issued non-bailable warrants against four police personnel --- three Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and one Sub-Inspector (SI).
The court has also written to the DIG Rupnagar, directing the senior police officer to ensure that the pending witness evidence is completed.
The prosecution had earlier been given several opportunities to finish the evidence in the case. However, the witness statements remained incomplete.

Taking note of the repeated delay, the court has now given the police administration a final chance to complete the process.
The case dates back to the alleged shooting involving Parmish Verma and is linked to gangster Dilpreet Baba and his aides. The singer and actor was allegedly targeted in the incident, which became a major talking point in Punjab at the time.
