PTC Web Desk: Actor Sonam Bajwa has expressed concern over police action during the CJP protest march held in Delhi on Monday, saying that young people raising their voices should be heard with empathy rather than force. The demonstration, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), witnessed clashes between protesters and security personnel as thousands gathered to march from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament.

Sonam Bajwa's emotional Reaction

Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, Sonam Bajwa said the visuals from the protest left her deeply disturbed.

In her post, she wrote that the young protesters are "voices of our country, not threats" and questioned why they were met with batons instead of dialogue.

She added that the issue was not about taking political sides but about choosing humanity and compassion.

"These are young voices of our Country, not threats. Why are they being met with lathis instead of listening? This isn't about politics—it's about choosing empathy over force. They deserve to be heard, not hurt."

In the caption, she further wrote that watching the scenes from the protest had broken her heart and stressed that humanity should come before politics.

What happened during the protest?

The CJP had called for a march from Jantar Mantar, where protesters had been camping for nearly a month, to Parliament. According to the organisers, around 50,000 people participated in the protest, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The protest reportedly began peacefully, with demonstrators carrying flowers for police personnel. However, tensions escalated later in the day after the main protest stage was removed by police and protesters attempted to move past barricades towards Parliament.

Security forces responded with lathi-charge and tear gas to stop the crowd. Several protesters were reportedly injured, with some sustaining head injuries.

The CJP also accused security personnel of attacking a truck carrying founder Ahijeet Dipke, activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife Gitanjali J. Angmo, and actors Shabana Azmi and Prakash Raj.

Delhi Police's response

Delhi Police defended its action, stating that protesters ignored repeated warnings and violated prohibitory orders in force.

According to the police, some protesters attempted to break barricades, threw stones and other objects at security personnel, damaged police and government vehicles, and vandalised public property.

The police said force was used to maintain law and order and to prevent further violence.

Several protesters detained

Authorities detained protesters from several locations, including Jantar Mantar, Mandi House, Janpath, Patel Chowk and Parliament Street, as security forces tried to stop the march from reaching Parliament. Tear gas was also used near Shastri Bhawan after some protesters attempted to push through police barricades.
