World lauds India’s momentous success in doubling tiger population in 12 years: Kovind
International Tiger Day 2020: While people are celebrating the International Tiger Day on Wednesday, the netizens pledge to protect our national animal and conserve its habitat. International Tiger Day is celebrated to spread awareness about the need to protect tigers which are endangered species.
Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind took to Twitter and wrote: "On International Tiger Day, the world lauds India’s momentous success in doubling tiger population in 12 years. I compliment the National Tiger Conservation Authority, Wildlife Institute of India, State Forest Depts, forest officers, and all stakeholders for this feat."
The Vice-Chairman at NITI Aayog wrote: "India is now home to 50 tiger reserves, having 2967 tigers. The progress made by the Government in ensuring the welfare of our national animal is phenomenal. Let us keep the success story going & celebrate our national animal every day."
