Swati Maliwal assault case: NCW demands action taken report from Delhi Police

Swati Maliwal assault case: The National Commission of Women on Friday sought an action taken report from the Delhi Police in the Swati Maliwal assault case. This comes two days after the alleged assault on former NCW chief and AAP RS MP Swati Maliwal.

On Friday, NCW chief Rekha Sharma stated that since the assault incident at Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal's home, they have been in touch with Swati Maliwal.

"...We asked for a police action taken report. There are charges in the FIR. Swati Maliwal has also undergone a medical examination today," said the NCW head.

She added that Kejriwal's personal secretary Bibhav Kumar had not replied to the notice and that "The NCW team went today as well with the notice, an inquiry team will be sent if he does not reply to our notice."

She stated, "If Delhi CM is involved in this, police and NCW will take action against him." in reference to taking action against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

As soon as the case became public, according to the NCW Chief, the commission took Suo Moto notice of it.

"We took suo motu when we saw this on social media. I was closely watching everything and I requested her to come out and file a complaint. I think she was traumatised because no one could expect that she would be beaten like this at their leader's residence. She is an MP who has always been taking up the issues of women. I told her that I was with her, and you come out and complain. After thinking for a long time, she filed a complaint," Rekha Sharma added.
