INX Media Case: SC grants bail to Chidambaram

INX Media Case: Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram in INX Media money laundering case, registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The apex court said that "P Chidambaram should not temper with the evidence and not influence the witnesses. He should also not give press interviews or make make public statements in connection with this case."

Also, the top court directed P Chidambaram to furnish a bail bond of Rs 2 lakhs along with two sureties of the same amount. Also, the Supreme Court said that Chidambaram can not travel abroad without the Court's permission.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Goel, DG Tihar Prison opened up on bail granted to P Chidambaram in INX media case. He said, "They will take the SC order to lower court and submit the sureties and bail bonds there, then the order to release him from jail will be issued. He will be released once we get the release order."
