In her first post, Sonia introduced her upcoming memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, saying she wanted to share with the world the special bond she shared with Rajiv and the memories they created together. The book is scheduled to be released on November 10.

In a two-minute video accompanying the post, Sonia recalled her first meeting with Rajiv at a restaurant in Cambridge.

Sonia said she had been looking for a place in England where she could find food similar to what she was used to eating.

“Food in England in those days was awful. In those days, you didn't have so many restaurants, you know, like you have today,” she said.

She eventually discovered the Varsity Restaurant, a Greek eatery in Cambridge that was popular among European and Indian students.

“That is then where I met Rajiv in that very restaurant,” she recalled.

Sonia said a mutual friend introduced them, and she felt an immediate connection with him.

“When I first met him, I felt almost immediately that he was someone I would really love to be with. And, of course, I learned that it was the same for him,” she said.

The two later became friends and spent time together at parties, sightseeing trips and student gatherings. Sonia also recalled attending a Valentine's Day party with other students.

Describing her first impression of Rajiv, she said he looked gentle and was very good-looking. She added that his gentle nature was what touched her the most and remained unforgettable.

In the message announcing her memoir, Sonia reflected on the beginning of their relationship, writing: “In a small Greek restaurant in Cambridge my journey of love began.”
