All-party meeting in Haryana plans grand celebrations for 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji

PTC Web Desk:  A high-level all-party meeting was convened in Chandigarh to finalise plans for the grand commemoration of the 350th Shahidi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru revered for his supreme sacrifice in defending faith, human rights and religious freedom.

Prominent leaders from various political parties, including Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Cabinet minister Anil Vij, BJP state president Mohan Lal Kaushik, Congress state president Rao Narendra Singh, BSP leader Krishna Jamalpur, INLD representative Gurvinder Dhamija, JJP state president Braj Sharma and AAP state president Sushil Gupta were present.

During the discussions, all leaders paid rich tributes to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, highlighting his unmatched courage and commitment to upholding justice and freedom of belief. It was collectively proposed that a series of religious, cultural  and community programmes be organised across Haryana to honour the Guru’s legacy, ensuring all events are held with dignity and spiritual reverence.

A unanimous resolution was passed pledging full cooperation from all political parties to make the 350th Shahidi Diwas celebrations a statewide, inclusive and dignified event.

As part of the commemorative activities, four major yatras will be taken out across the state, beginning November 8 from Rori (Sirsa). These processions will pass through significant sites visited by the Guru Sahiban, encouraging participation from devotees and local communities.

An inspiring proposal was also adopted:  350 girls will perform Guru Kirtan at the main ceremony, symbolising 350 years of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s martyrdom and sacrifice.

Dr Prabhleen Singh (OSD) briefed attendees on the proposed schedule, sharing that special committees have been formed to coordinate various aspects of the celebrations.

The gathering also reflected on Guru Sahib’s deep spiritual connection with Haryana, where he visited several places spreading messages of truth, compassion and fearlessness. Many sacred gurdwaras across the state continue to preserve the memory of his teachings and divine presence.

Leaders across party lines reaffirmed their commitment to commemorate the 350th martyrdom year of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji with utmost devotion, honouring his timeless contribution to humanity.
