The Bihar Cabinet has approved changes to its Social Media and Other Online Media Rules, 2026. The decision was among 13 proposals cleared at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
Under the new rules, empanelled social media creators who make content about Bihar government schemes and programmes can receive an additional Rs 10,000 for every one lakh views after 30 days. However, the maximum payment for a single video will be Rs 1 lakh. The views and other conditions will have to be officially verified.
The government will also regularly check the number of followers on registered social media accounts, pages and channels.
Who all are eligible ?
To get payments, individual creators and registered companies must first be empanelled with the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD). Content made without government approval or empanelment will not be eligible for payment.
Creators must also meet government requirements related to eligibility, platform, content quality and view verification. The final payment amount will be decided based on these conditions.
The scheme aims to promote information about the Bihar government's schemes, development projects, programmes and achievements through social media and other digital platforms.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved an agreement between the state IT Department and Taiyo AI India Pvt Ltd to help develop an AI ecosystem in Bihar.
