Tit-for-tat: Portion of structure demolished, barricades removed outside Pakistan High Commission in Delhi
PTC News Desk: Authorities in Delhi demolished some structures and barricades outside the Pakistan High Commission on Thursday after finding that they extended beyond the mission’s approved boundary, official sources said.
The action came a few days after Pakistan removed security barricades and parking poles outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
Authorities used a bulldozer to remove barricades, fencing, roofing and queue-management structures near the visa section. Debris, including broken metal railings, bricks, concrete and roofing sheets, was seen scattered outside the High Commission.
The visa section and its service windows remained visible, although broken fencing and construction material were lying nearby.
However, the main entrance of the Pakistan High Commission, including its white walls, domed structures and large gates with the Pakistani emblem, was not damaged.
The demolition was unrelated to US Ambassador Sergio Gor’s recent remarks describing Jammu and Kashmir as an important part of India.
