PTC Web Desk (Bengaluru):  A serious aviation incident was averted after a Fly91 flight encountered a mid-air technical glitch, triggering panic among passengers and forcing the aircraft to remain airborne for several hours before landing safely. The Fly91 flight IC3401, an ATR turboprop, had taken off from Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at around 3 pm and was scheduled to reach Hubballi by 4:30 pm.

However, as it neared its destination, the crew detected a technical snag and decided to abort the landing as a precautionary measure. With the issue unresolved, the aircraft continued to hover in the airspace, circling over parts of Karnataka, including Mundgod, Davanagere and Shivamogga, for nearly four hours while the pilots worked to stabilise the situation.

The prolonged uncertainty left passengers anxious, with several reportedly praying and breaking down during the ordeal.

On the ground, worried relatives criticised the airline, alleging poor communication and claiming they were not kept adequately informed about the developments.

Eventually, the flight was diverted to Bengaluru, where it made a safe landing at Kempegowda International Airport at around 7:30 pm, bringing relief to those on board and their families.
